In 1927, the Communist Workers Party of Germany published on the cover of Die Arbeiter-Illustrierte-Zeitung a photo of a protester outside the trial of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian anarchists wrongfully convicted of murder and later executed. The protester carried a sign: SACCO VANZETTI A FRAME-UP. FREE SACCO VANZETTI.
